Vietnam drops to 16th place on ASIAD second competing day

Vietnam got two more medals on the second day of the ongoing Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 in Indonesia, raising the country’s total medals to four but it still dropped to the 16th place in the medal tally as of 22:00 on August 20.

Jakarta(VNA) – Vietnam got two more medals on the second day of the ongoing AsianGames (ASIAD) 2018 in Indonesia, raising the country’s total medals to four butit still dropped to the 16th place in the medal tally as of 22:00 onAugust 20.

Weight lifter ThachKim Tuan, a hope of gold medal for Vietnam, only bagged silver in the men’s56kg event.

Meanwhile, swimmerNguyen Huy Hoang won bronze in the men’s 800m freestyle event.

As of 22:00 on August20, Vietnamese athletes owned one silver and three bronze medals, ranking 16th in the medal list.

China continued leadingthe list with 15 gold, 12 silver and 9 bronze medals, followed by Japan with 8gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals, and the Republic of Korea with 5 gold, 9silver and 10 bronze medals.-VNA
