Vietnam enhances ties with World Federation of Trade Unions

In their meeting, Tung gave an overview of his organisation’soperations and thanked the WFTU for its active support for the VGCL inrecent years.

He expressed his belief that the friendship andcooperation between the two sides will be deepened through the exchangeof information and mutual support at international forums.

Forhis part, George Mavrikos said that the WFTU, which was founded in 1945in Paris, now comprises some 90 million trade unionists in 126countries.

Appreciating the VGLC’s role in safeguarding therights and interests of Vietnam’s working class and labourers, he saidthe confederation has made substantial contributions to the improvementof labourers’ livelihoods and the country’s national development.

TheGeneral Secretary said the WFTU is willing to provide multi-facetedassistance to the VGLC while holding out hope that both sides willincrease the exchange of delegations and experience in an effort tostrengthen trade union organisations.-VNA
