Vietnam faces tough draw for Asian Futsal qualifiers

Vietnam's futsal (indoor football) team will play against Malaysia in the opener in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Championship qualifiers.

Vietnam drew group B alongwith Australia , Malaysia and Cambodia ; while Group A has Thailand, Indonesia , the Philippines and Myanmar .

Vietnam will take on Cambodia in the second match and meetAustralia in the final group game from November 26 to December 1.

Only three top teams will qualify for the tournament to be held in the United Arab Emirates .

Besides Thailand , one of strongest teams in Asia and almost acertainty to win a ticket for UAE, the second spot is likely to be takenby Australia .

The third place will be contested between Vietnam , Indonesia and Malaysia .

Vietnam qualified for the 2010 AFC Futsal Championship but wasstopped at the group stage despite an impressive victory 7-3 over theRepublic of Korea in the opening match.

The biennialtournament will have 16 countries participating, including four directentrants – defending champions Iran, runners-up Uzbekistan andthird-placed Japan – and hosts UAE./.
