Hanoi (VNA) – The 7th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VFU) has elected a new CentralCommittee for the 7th tenure (2018-2023) with 119 members.

The number showed a reduction of6 members compared to the VFU Central Committee in the 6th tenure.

The VFU’s 7th NationalCongress opened in Hanoi on December 12 with the presence of General Secretaryof the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Nguyen Phu Trong.

The event drew 999 delegatesrepresenting more than 10 million farmers nationwide.

According to a report at thecongress, in the 2013-2018 period, the union held 130,000 agro-forestry-fisherytraining courses for more than 15 million officials and farmers, while buildingand transferring over 14,000 models of technology application toagro-forestry-fishery production to farmers.

The union has held more than410,000 technology training courses for nearly 25 million members, along with62,000 production models involving nearly 6.32 million farmers.

In the next tenure, the unionaims to have at least 60 percent of members accessing the Internet, and 100percent of union’s officials receiving training on new agricultural knowledge andcommunication skills.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
