Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Fatherland Front(VFF) concluded its ninth National Congress on September 20 afternoon afterthree days of working.
The closing session was attended by Politburomembers: Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue,and head of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission TruongThi Mai.
During the last sitting, the congress agreed tokeep the number of the members of the VFF Central Committee for the 2019-2024tenure at 385, 374 of whom were appointed at the event while the remaining 11will be added later.
Reporting on the outcomes of the first meetingof the 9th-tenure VFF Central Committee, which was held on the last working dayof the congress, Vice President of the 8th-tenure VFF Central Committee NguyenHuu Dung said the 9th-tenure committee will have a 62-member presidium and asix-member standing board.
President of the 8th-tenure VFF Central CommitteeTran Thanh Man will continue holding this post for the 9th tenure. Hau A Lenh,Vice President and Secretary General in the last tenure, will also serve onthese positions for another term.
On behalf of the 9th-tenure VFF CentralCommittee, Man affirmed that the committee will continue upholding and buildingon the achievements and experience obtained during the previous terms. It willeffectively implement the Party’s guidelines and resolutions and the State’spolicies and laws, while ensuring solidarity and consensus within itself.
The committee will also unceasingly makeself-improvement to deserve being the representative of political,social-political and social organisations; people of all strata, ethnic groupsand religions; and overseas Vietnamese, he stressed.
Man added that to fulfill its tasks, the VFFCentral Committee wishes to continue receiving the Party’s attention, stateagencies’ effective coordination, joint efforts of member organisations and itscommittees at all levels, and especially support from all the Vietnamese peopleboth at home and abroad.
Themed “Solidarity – Democracy – Reform –Development”, the congress called on the people nationwide and overseas to joinhands and bring into play their patriotism and determination to weather alldifficulties and challenges; build a strong political system; firmly safeguardnational independence, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity; anddevelop and defend the country.
