Seoul (VNA) – President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Moon Jae-in’s upcomingvisit to Vietnam will provide momentum in seeking new emerging trade partnersfor the RoK in Southeast Asia. 

Thedaily Korea Times published in English on March 21 quoted an official of thePresidential Palace as saying that Vietnam is a core country in the Moonadministration’s New Southern Policy which aims to diversify Seoul’s economicpartnerships beyond the US and China, by increasing trade with Southeast Asiannations.

Theofficial said President Moon will seek ways to strengthen practical cooperationin various fields, including trade, transportation, infrastructure and energy.

Thearticle also mentioned itineraries during the visit from March 22-24, sayingthat Moon will meet Park Hang-seo, Korean head coach of the Vietnamese nationalfootball team whose leadership led the country to win second place in the U23Asian Cup.

Hewill then participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Vietnam – KoreaInstitute of Science and Technology, which is a symbol of cooperation betweenthe two nations in science-technology.

Onthe second day of his visit, Moon will pay floral tribute to late President HoChi Minh at his mausoleum. Afterwards, he will meet Party General SecretaryNguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc andNational Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

TheRoK leader will also attend a job fair before leaving Vietnam for the UnitedArab Emirates.-VNA
