Vietnam helps Laos build border check-point

Vietnam has provided over 29.5 billion VND for Laos between 2008 and 2010 to build a cross-border check-point at the Phu Cua International Border Gate in Attapeu province, according to the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum ’s Department of Planning and Investment.

Covering a site of 27,000 sq.m,the check-point will include a two-storey office block which willaccommodate an inspections room, a guard post, a rest room for staff,the electricity and water systems, a parking area and a garden.

Once operational in 2010, the check point, together with the Bo Y-PhuCua International Border Gate, will facilitate trading and tourismbetween Kon Tum province and localities in Laos , which will strengthendiplomatic ties amongst nations along the East-West Economic Corridor.

Besides helping Attapeu province to build the check-point, Kon Tumprovince has also helped to conduct surveys and comprehensivesocio-economic development plans for the Dak Bar border gate in Sekongprovince’s Dak Chung district./.
