Vietnam’s U23 football team will be in Group D of the 2020 AFC U23 Championship’ finals, together with the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, following a draw held in Thailand on September 26.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s U23football team will be in Group D of the 2020 AFC U23 Championship’ finals, togetherwith the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and the Democratic People’s Republic ofKorea, following a draw held in Thailand on September 26.

The 2020 AFC U23 Championship’s final roundis set to take place from January 8 to 26 next year across four stadiums inThailand, with the participation of 16 teams.

The three best teams of the tournament,along with Japan, will represent Asia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. If hostsJapan are among the winners, the fourth-placed team will earn the last Olympicspot.

Previously, Vietnam booked a ticket tocompete in the 2020 AFC U23 Championship’s final as they topped their Group Kqualifying round after a perfect record of three wins and 11 goals, whileconceding none.

As the runners-up of the continentalfootball tournament in 2018, Vietnam have been placed in the first pot of thedraw along with defending champions Uzbekistan, third-place winners Qatar, andhosts Thailand.

Aside from Thailand, who automatically havea place as the hosts, Vietnam are the sole ASEAN representatives qualifying forthe final./.

Viet💮nam r♏e-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee
