Vietnam, Italy step up cooperation on industry

At the meeting, coorganised by the General Confederation of ItalianIndustry (Confindustria) and the Trade Office at the Vietnamese Embassyin Italy, Commercial Counsellor Bui Vuong Anh from the VietnameseEmbassy highlighted opportunities for foreign enterprises when investingin Vietnamese market, saying that Vietnam has recently signed two freetrade agreements with the Republic of Korea and the Eurasian EconomicUnion.
Representatives from Italian industry associations maderecommendations on specific contents for cooperation includingtechnology transfer. In particular, UCIMU, the Italian automationsystems and ancillary products manufacturers’ association, wasinterested in establishing joint venture for production and technologytransfer in Vietnam. The conference was held in the framework of aprogramme to promote economic collaboration activities as signedbetween the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and Italy’sMinistry of Economic Development last November at the first meeting ofthe mixed commission for economic cooperation. Detailed collaboration in the four sectors will be discussed at the committee’s second meeting in September in Italy.-VNA
