Vietnam, Japan enhance defence ties

Hanoi (VNA) –
Chief of the General Staff of theVietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister Phan Van Giang hosted areception in Hanoi on January 7 for Chief of the Staff of the Japan Air Self-DefenceForce General Yoshinari Marumo. 

Giang expressed his belief that the visit will strengthenfriendship, cooperation and mutual support between the two defence ministriesand the two air forces in particular.

He said the Vietnamese Defence Ministry highly values theJapanese Defence Ministry’s capacity improvement programme for the Vietnameseair force, adding that the sharing of information and experience in flightsafety, aviation medicine and rescue have raised mutual understanding between bothsides.

Hailing the outcomes of talks between General Yoshinari Marumoand the Commander of the Air Defence-Air Force Service, Giang affirmed that theVietnamese Defence Ministry is always ready to offer all possible support to thetwo air forces to fully and effectively realise set agreements.

Yoshinari Marumo, for his part, said Japan – Vietnam tieshave kept growing in diverse areas over the past years, with defence tiesbecoming an important pillar.

He believed that the visit will open up new cooperationopportunities for the two armies and air forces in particular.-VNA
