A national ceremony was held in Da Lat city, the Central Highlandsprovince of Lam Dong on September 21 to respond to the “Clean up theWorld” Campaign.
Under the theme “Our place … our planet… ourresponsibility”, the three-day worldwide campaign aims to raise publicawareness of and responsibility for environmental protection andencourage people to take part in community activities .
Addressing the event, MoNRE Deputy Minister Bui Cach Tuyen called onindividuals, organisations and businesses across the country to joinhands in protecting the environment and dealing with climate changeimpacts for the sustainable national development.
Following the ceremony, delegates cleaned up areas around Xuan Huong Lake in Da Lat city.
Earlier, a total of 2,700 trees were planted in the campus of DaLat University on September 20 in response to the campaign.
Apart from Lam Dong province, many localities across the country also respond to the campaign with a range of activities.
Initiated in 1993 by Australia , the “Clean up the World” Campaignhas been launched globally by the United Nations on the third week ofevery September. This year’s event takes place from September 20 to22.-VNA
