Vietnam launches first container train to China

The Vietnam Railway Corporation’s Railway Transport and Trade JSC (Ratraco) on November 30 launched the first container train to China from Yen Vien station in Hanoi.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Railway Corporation’s RailwayTransport and Trade JSC (Ratraco) on November 30 launched the first container trainto China from Yen Vien station in Hanoi.

The train transports 20 containers carrying coal, ore and electronicproducts to Nanning city of China’s Guangxi province. After the first trip,Ratraco and its Chinese partner will operate the route with fixed itinerary initiallyin every Tuesday and Thursday, and then expectedly every day.

Earlier on November 29, Yen Vien station welcomed a container train fromNanning city, with travel time of 20 hours excluding time for customs procedureclearance.

The train carried refrigerated containers with new technology, which isexpected to meet the demand of transporting frozen goods between the twocountries and ease overload in border gates.

The launch of Yen Vien-Nanning container trains is part of the railwaytransport cooperation plan between the two countries. The two sides have alsoworked on the launch of trains from other Chinese localities to Vietnam,facilitating goods exchange with lower transport prices, and creatingfavourable conditions for the shipment of Vietnamese products to Central Asia,Russia, and Europe through the Chinese territory.-VNA
