Vietnam, Namibia target enhanced cooperation

PrimeMinister Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement at his meeting with visitingNamibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba in Hanoi on November 19.

Speaking highly of the outcomes reached at the talks betweenPresident Hifikepunye Pohamba and President Truong Tan Sang, PM Dungvoiced his hope that the Namibian President’s visit will create amilestone to elevate the two countries’ relationship to a new level.

He noted with pleasure the fruitful development in the linkageand suggested the two sides enhance bilateral cooperation, especially inthe fields of economics, trade and investment.

The leaderunderlined the need for the two countries to create favourableconditions for their businesses to promote trade, investment and tourismwhile continuing to implement triple-sided cooperative projects inagriculture and call on the involvement of the private sector in thisrealm.

He suggested the two sides tighten their coordinationin regional and international cooperation within the framework of theSouth-South Cooperation.

The PM used the occasion to thankNamibia for recognising Vietnam’s full market economy, pledging that theVietnamese Government will actively implement agreements reached duringthe Namibian President’s visit to Vietnam, especially in investment,trade, education and training, healthcare, tourism and air transportservices.

President Hifikepunye Pohamba briefed his host onthe results of his talks with President Sang, during which the twoleaders agreed to step up cooperation in politics, diplomacy,particularly people-to-people diplomacy, and twinning relationshipsbetween major cities in order to raise mutual understanding between thetwo peoples.

The two sides also consented to strengthen tiesin investment, trade, education and training, healthcare and tourism,he said.

Namibia will create every favourablecondition for Vietnamese businesses to invest in the Southern Africancountry, especially on the planes of mining, agriculture and tourism, heaffirmed.

The Namibian leader expressed his condolences toVietnamese flood victims, urging countries worldwide, particularlydeveloping nations, to effectively implement the United NationsFramework on Climate Change to reduce the impacts of climate change.-VNA
