Vietnam Olympic Committee outlines 2015 main tasks

The Vietnam Olympic Committee’s (VOC) executive committee organised a conference in Hanoi on January 15, outlining key missions in 2015 and developing plans to compete at international events.

Over 50 participants attending the conference discussed preparationsfor the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to be held in Singapore nextJune and the ASEAN Para Games taking place later on.

The delegates also discussed plans for Vietnam, as the host nation,to successfully organise the fifth Asian Beach Games next year.

The selection and training of top athletes for success at the 31stOlympic Games and 15th Paralympic Games in Brazil was a central focuspoint.

Addressing the conference, Minister ofCulture, Sports, and Tourism Hoang Anh Tuan said 2015 is an importantyear for Vietnam’s Olympic momentum.

He asked theVOC to speed up implementation of agreements on sports to strengthensports cooperation with ASEAN countries and international sportsorganisations in the region and around the world.

The delegates also elected Le Hung Dung, who is president of theVietnam Football Federation, as Vice Chairman of the VOC and Nguyen VanTuan, who is Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Trousim,as a member of the VOC’s Executive Committee.-VNA
