Vietnam Pavilion in Italy, designed by Vo Trong Nghia Architects, hasbeen selected as one of the top 15 world buildings to look forward to in2015 by the DEZEEN architecture and design magazine.

The pavilion is being built across 887 square meters in Milan city andis scheduled to be completed in late April of this year.

Its design was inspired by the popular lotus pods from the Vietnamese countryside.

The building will consist of a shallow pool of water and a series ofbamboo structures that will encase trees to create a green space andsave energy.

Vo Trong Nghia Architects is taking part in the Milan Expo from May 1 to October 31 in Italy.

Responding to the expo's theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for life,"the Vietnamese architects described the consumption of the lotus –Vietnam's national flower – as an example of sustainable living.

The design team will place a two-storey exhibition space at the centreof the pavilion, surrounded on all sides by water and framed by 25bamboo structures of various sizes.

Stepping stonesin the shape of lotus leaves will guide visitors towards the entrance, while screen walls around the perimeter will fold back to bring naturalventilation into the exhibition areas.

Thelightweight bamboo elements will be prefabricated, allowing the pavilionto be easily disassembled and recycled once the expo is over.-VNA

Indian writer captivated by Vietnam’𒀰s Cha💟m culture

Taking a journey to the Cham Museum — the modest building in Phan Rang –Thap Cham, Indian writer Ankita Mahabir said that the museum might not boast size but it brims with pride for the local community, featuring carefully preserved sandstone sculptures, portraits, and rare artifacts.

For years, the Vietnamese community in many countries rarely had the chance to experience Vietnam’s traditional arts and culture actitivies organized by the Vietnam government, except the annual event “Vietnam Day Abroad” that has been organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2010. But the year 2024 marked a turning point.

In the context of international integration and globalisation, culture and art education plays a vital role in promoting the all-round development of Vietnam's young generation.
