Vietnam Permanent Mission to UN marks National Day
The Vietnam Permanent Mission to the UN held an online ceremony on September 2 to mark Vietnam’s 75th National Day, which attracted the participation of over 400 delegates from UN member states.

New York (VNA) - The Vietnam Permanent Mission to the UNheld an online ceremony on September 2 to mark Vietnam’s 75th NationalDay, which attracted the participation of over 400 delegates from UN member states.
Addressing the ceremony, President of the UN GeneralAssembly Tijjani Muhammad Bande expressed his delight at the partnershipbetween Vietnam and the UN, which was set up in 1977 and has brought aboutpositive results in fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He hailed Vietnam’s contributions to UN peacekeepingmissions and believed the country would make increasingly active contributions.
UN Under-Secretary General Atul Khare spoke highly of thecloser partnership between Vietnam and the UN and welcomed Vietnam’scontributions to promoting peace and international security.
Amid the complex developments of COVID-19, which have posedchallenges around the world, he highly valued Vietnam’s efforts in fighting thepandemic. He also thanked Vietnam for actively sharing its experience in coping withthe disease and treating infected patients.

It has strived to integrate into the regional andglobal community to become an independent, vibrant, and responsible member of the international community, as evidencedby its establishment of ties with 189 UN member countries and membership of ASEANand regional and global organisations, he said.
Ties between Vietnam and the UN have developed stronglyover past years, he went on, especially in the fulfilment of the MillennialDevelopment Goals (MDGs) and the SDGs and Vietnam’s involvement in UN peacekeepingmissions.
He thanked the UN and the international community forproviding support for Vietnam in its process of post-war reconstruction, povertyreduction, and socio-economic development.
After watching a short video on Vietnam’s 75 years ofconstruction and defence, international friends expressed their congratulationsto the Vietnamese people and lauded the country’s invaluable support to theworld’s national liberation movemeꦓnt. Leaders of Cambodia, India, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK), the US, France, Italy, Canada and Australia have extended their congratulations to the Vietnamese Party and State leaders on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the country’s National Day (September 2, 1945-2020).
The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia on September 2 held a meeting in Moscow to mark the 75th anniversary of National Day, and offered incense to President Ho Chi Minh.
Many foreign media outlets recently ran articles highlighting Vietnam’s achievements over the last 75 years and its stature in the international arena on the occasion of the country’s 75th National Day (September 2).

Nghia affirmed that this is a milestone of special significance, affirming and honouring the the Vietnamese revolutionary press’s glorious tradition of 100 years of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.

The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
