Vietnam prepares for field hospital as part of peacekeeping missions

As many as 95 delegates gathered at a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on June 23 to discuss preparations for setting up a level 2 field hospital as part of the country’s participation in UN peacekeeping missions.
As many as 95 delegates gathered at a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City onJune 23 to discuss preparations for setting up a level 2 field hospitalas part of the country’s participation in UN peacekeeping missions.

The three-day event, co-organised by the VietnamPeacekeeping Centre under the Ministry of Defence and the US PacificCommand, aims to enhance the capability of Vietnam’s military medicalforces in peacekeeping operations.

Participantsshared experience and expertise in deploying and operating a fieldhospital during a peacekeeping mission, according to Director of theCentre Hoang Kim Phung.

Vietnam will send military medical and engineering officers to join UN peacekeeping missions.

The centre has trained officers for UN peacekeeping missions and sentmore than 70 officials to training courses and conferences onpeacekeeping operations abroad.

By now thecentre has sent two officers to the UN mission in South Sudan and threeofficers to the Central Africa mission.
