Vietnam ranks second in ASEAN in IPv6 transition

Vietnam’s Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) adoption rate reached 44 percent, ranking second in ASEAN and 10th globally, according to the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC).

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s InternetProtocol version 6 (IPv6)adoption rate reached 44 percent, ranking second in ASEAN and 10th globally,  accordingto the AsiaPacific Network Information Centre (APNIC).

The Ministryof Information and Communications’ Vietnam Internet Network Information Centre (VNNIC)said in an effort to switch to IPv6, 44 out of 63 cities and provinces haveissued their own action plans.

IPv6 isexpected to meet Vietnam’s demand to offer new and quality services such asInternet of Things, 4G-LTE and 5G networks, contributing to digitaltransformation and digital government building.

In thefirst half of this year, many localities such as Vinh Long, Binh Thuan, HauGiang, Thai Binh and Ha Tinh rolled out their plans to switch to IPv6 andpartnered with the VNNIC to hold training for information technology officersin the field.

The VNNICalso recently held a webinar on guidelines for IPv6 address planning fordepartments of information and communications in the central and CentralHighlands regions.

InVietnam, 34 million mobile and 11 million Internet subscribers are using IPv6services.

ཧ Vietnam launches six 4.0 technology training and talent networks

The networks bring together universities, research institutes and domestic and foreign businesses. Members will work closely in training, research, and technology transfer by sharing curricula, improving faculty capacity, providing access to laboratories and research facilities, and jointly implementing science and technology projects.

Vietnam has issued many key policies to support semiconductor development, notably the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
