Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam ranked third overall at the16th Asian Finswimming Championship which closed in China on December 12.

On the last day ofcompetition, Luu Nguyen Duc Tam won a gold medal in the men’s 800m surface witha time of 6:25.31.

He overcame Shan Yonganof China and Yang Ping Hua of Chinese Taipei.

His teammates claimed twosilvers in the women’s 800m surface by Tran Thi Trang Diem, 800m surface andmen’s team in the 4x100m surface.

The last medal was abronze by Nguyen Thanh Loc in the men’s 50m apnea event.

The Vietnamese broughthome eight golds, four silvers and six bronzes. They also set a new Asia recordin the men’s 200msurface with a time of 1min 21.39sec by Thanh Loc.

China bagged the topposition and the Republic of Korea secured second place.

In the Asian YouthFinswimming Competition at the same venue, Vietnam bagged six gold, sevensilver and six bronze medals.-VNA
