Vietnam records no new community infections for 22 straight days

No new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Vietnam on May 8 evening, marking it the 22th consecutive day without infections in the community, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Hanoi (VNA) - No new cases ofCOVID-19 were recorded in Vietnam on May 8 evening, marking it the 22th consecutiveday without infections in the community, according to the National SteeringCommittee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Among the total 288 patients, 148 were imported and the remaining were infectedwith the coronavirus in the community.

So far, the country has reported no deaths from the disease.

Also on May 8, eight patients were declared fully recovered, raising the totalnumber of recoveries to 241.

The remaining 47 cases are under treatment at six health facilities, of whom 10tested negative once and four negative at least twice.

As many 16,525 people having close contact with the patients and entering thecountry from pandemic-hit areas are being quarantined, including 162at hospitals, 6,693 at concentrated quarantine areas, and 9,670 at home./.
