Vietnam, RoK supreme courts enhance cooperation

President Truong TanSang made the statement while receiving a delegation of the RoK’sSupreme Court, led by Court Administration Minister and Supreme CourtJustice Cha Han Sung in Hanoi on July 18.

He expressedhis pleasure at the fine development of Vietnam-RoK ties, affirmingthat cooperation between the two court sectors has helped deepen thestrategic partnership between the two countries.

Vietnam will do its best to strengthen cooperation with RoK, Sangsaid, adding that the start of negotiations for a free trade agreementwill be a driving force for trade relations between the two countries.

Members of the RoK delegation said they hope the two countries willcontinue to increase ties in all sectors to make their strategicpartnership practical, effective and intensive.

Earlier,at their talks, leaders of Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam and the RoKSupreme Court expressed their expectation for legal cooperation betweenthe two bodies on the basis of mutual understanding and respect in thefuture.

Both Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s CourtTruong Hoa Binh and the RoK’s Court Administration Minister and SupremeCourt Justice Cha Han Sung said they hope that the two bodies will alsocontinue to strengthen their relationship.

Binh said the visit byJustice Cha Han Sung will make remarkable contributions to furtherboosting friendship between the two supreme courts in particular and thetwo countries, in general, especially on the occasion of theVietnam-RoK Friendship Year 2012.

He also spoke highly of theRoK Supreme Court’s support for the renovation and development of theVietnamese court sector over the past time.

For his part, JusticeCha Han Sung valued the reforms in the Vietnam court system, sayingthe reform has helped improve the position of the Supreme People’sCourt of Vietnam in the region.

After the talks, Deputy ChiefJudge Dang Quang Phuong and Justice Cha Han Sung signed a memorandum ofunderstanding on cooperation between the two supreme courts.

Under the document, the two sides will boost cooperation in exchanging judicial information and training court staff.

On the occasion, Chief Judge Truong Hoa Binh presented the Friendship Order to RoK’s Supreme Court.

Thesame day, the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam inaugurated a schoolfor court staff training in Kim Son commune, Gia Lam district, Hanoi.The school was built with the support of the Korea InternationalCooperation Agency (KOICA).-VNA
