Vietnam hopes to receive more support from the Russian Government,Ministry of Education and Science and the country’s educationinstitutions in training human resources, especially in nuclear energyand technology fields.
The suggestion was made byVietnamese Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan during talkswith his Russian counterpart Livanov Dmitryi Victorovich in Hanoi onNovember 12.
Minister Luan thanked the Russian Governmentand people for their assistance in training a great number of Vietnameseexperts and skilled workers, who became a core force in Vietnam’snational defence and construction.
He said Vietnam’sMinistry of Education and Training as well as its education sectorcarries out comprehensive and intensive reforms in the field to furtherdevelop human resources, towards a knowledge-based economy.
Vietnam wants Russia to continue assisting it in the field throughincreasing Russian scholarships for its citizens to 1,000 by 2020,Luan said, adding that Vietnam needs to train its workforce intechnological fields of biology, new material technology, spaceenergy and medicine technology, marine science research and ship design.
Luan expressed his hope that Russia will also help Vietnamtrain manpower for the country’s nuclear technology development, whichwill serve the building of nuclear power plants in Vietnam.
For his part, Victorovich agreed with the Vietnamese minister’sproposals, while affirming Russia’s commitment to work closely withVietnam in the fields, especially in nuclear energy.
The twoministers concurred in stepping up the establishment of a Vietnam –Russia Technology University and promoting the teaching of the Russianlanguage and culture in Vietnamese education institutions.
They also said that it is necessary to elevate the Vietnam-Russiajoint committee on science and technology cooperation into anintergovernmental committee on education, training andscience-technology cooperation.-VNA
