Vietnam sees more than 31,500 cyber attacks in 2015

Vietnam suffered more than 31,500 cyber attacks in the past year, according to the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCert).

Hanoi (VNA)🌄 - Vietnam suffered more than 31,500 cyber attacks in the past year, according to the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCert).

Phishing attack cases increased by four times compared to last year, malware attacks increased 1.7 times and defacing remained flat.
Nguyen Khac Lich, VNCert deputy director, said that in the past year the agency had dealt with 5,104 phishing cases, 4.5 times higher than that of last year. The centre also tackled 6,188 defacing cases, of those 252 cases related to government sites with the domain name ".gov.vn".
VNCERT co-operated with international agencies to handle and shut down 200 fake websites this year. The centre also held many drills on preventing cyber attacks on a national and international scale.-VNA

The networks bring together universities, research institutes and domestic and foreign businesses. Members will work closely in training, research, and technology transfer by sharing curricula, improving faculty capacity, providing access to laboratories and research facilities, and jointly implementing science and technology projects.

The resumption of the programme after years of suspension carries considerable significance for the nation’s development in a new era as it strives to gradually reduce and ultimately phase out coal-fired power to realise the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050.

Vietnam has issued many key policies to support semiconductor development, notably the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Other initiatives include the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, and the Human Resources Development Programme for the Semiconductor Industry.
