Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Social Security (VSS) on January 17 launched a programme to grant social insurance books and health insurance cards, along with gifts, topoor people nationwide, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival. 

Theprogramme will be implemented in all 63 provinces and centrally-run cities from January 17 – 21, targeting ethnic minority people, those who have escaped poverty but do not have healthinsurance, people from near-poor households living just above the poverty line who have not participated insocial and health insurance, people with difficult circumstances, and otherdisadvantaged groups.

The funding for the programme has been contributed by employees working in the social insurance sector.

Speaking at the programme's launch, General Director of VSS Nguyen The Manh said through the programme, the VSS hopesto spread the human and sharing spirit of social and healthinsurance policy in the community.

On the occasion, Manh presented 375 gifts to patients at 15 central hospitalsin Hanoi./🅺.
