Vietnam suffers 0-5 defeat to Iran, out of AFC U16 champs

Vietnam’s U16 football team were knocked out of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U16 Championship after losing 5-0 to Iran in the final match of Group C in Malaysia on September 27.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s U16 football tꦦeam were knocked out of the AsianFootball Confederation (AFC) U16 Championship after losing 5-0 to Iran in thefinal match of Group C in Malaysia on Sept𝔍ember 27.

Thesquad finished bottom of Group C with only one point after three matches. AmirhosseinAzizi and Aria Barzegar scored two goals for Iran in the first 21 minutes afterthe whistle. Thingswent from bad to worse for Vietnam, as on 31 minutes Vu Tien Long was sent off. Withmore players in the field, Iran found the net three more times with two goals fromAmin Doustali and another one from Azizi.

However,Iran, runners-up of the previous tournament in 2016, were still ousted as Indiaand Indonesia both qualified for the next round after a 0-0 draw.

Earlier, Vietnam drew 1-1 with Indonesia in the secondmatch of Group C on September 24 at Bukit Jalil Stadium.

Entering the match with great expectations, Vietnamcreated a surprise as it opened the scoring through Van Khang’s.

However, Vietnam could not protect its lead, as SutanZico equalised for Indonesia in the second half.

Two years ago in India, Vietnam reached thequarter-finals.

The top four teams will represent Asia at the FIFA Uꦉ17World Cup 2019, which will be hel🔯d in Peru.-VNA
