Vietnam-Switzerland Friendship Association celebrates 30th anniversary

The Vietnam-Switzerland Friendship Association held a concert in Zurich on December 7 to mark its 30 th anniversary.

The concert received support andassistance from the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland. It is one ofthe practical activities calling for donations to the VietnamAssociation for Children Victims of Agent Orange.

Addressing the concert, Nguyen The Phiet, Vietnam’s Ambassador toSwitzerland, stressed that the Vietnam-Switzerland FriendshipAssociation, founded in 1982, has contributed to connecting Vietnameseand Swiss people in friendship over the past 30 years. It has alsoorganised practical activities to raise money for Agent Orange victimsin Vietnam.

Anjuska Weil, Chairwoman of theassociation, said that they have known about the issue of Agent Orangein Vietnam since the 1980s thanks to the work of scientists likeProf. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong (Vice President of Vietnam Association forVictims of Agent Orange), Prof. Le Cao Dai and Prof. Vo Quy. Theassociation has helped expand Swiss people’s understanding of the issuethrough websites, exhibitions, speeches and other cultural activities.

Struggling for Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange will continue to bethe theme of their operations in the future. In addition, theassociation will maintain projects like Supporting Capital for theElderly, prepare research tours in Vietnam next spring and organiseother activities to consolidate the two peoples’ friendship, she said.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
