Vietnam values friendship with Nauru: Ambassador

Sydney (VNA) – Vietnam looks forward to further developing deep friendship with Nauru, said Ambassador to Australia and Nauru Dang Hung Tam as he paid a courtesy call on Nauru High Commissioner to Australia Camilla Solomo on June 13.

Tam expressed his delight at the development of ties between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2006. He highlighted that at the 2018 trip to Vietnam by then Nauru President Baron Divavesi Waqa, leaders of the two sides agreed to increase bilateral delegation exchanges and cooperation in arenas of common interest. They also agreed to coordinate at multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations and the Global Environment Fund.

He went on talking about Vietnam’s development experiences and opportunities for cooperation in trade, fisheries, agriculture, tourism, and climate change response.

For her part, Solomon hailed the Vietnam-Nauru friendship and said she hopes that the countries will organise more high-level exchanges to discuss development experiences and collaboration in tourism, trade, people-to-people exchange, climate change, security, and the blue economy./.
