Vietnam Volunteer Festival 2014 launched in Hanoi

As many as 10,000 volunteers from nearly 100 Vietnamese and foreign organisations joined the Vietnam Volunteer Festival 2014, which was launched in Hanoi on December 6 as part of activities to mark 15 years of the Vietnam youth volunteer campaign and the International Volunteer Day (December 5).

Themed “I love Vietnam,” theevent featured a range of activities, including a blood donation driveengaging 3,000 volunteers who are expected to donate 2,500 units ofblood to the needy.

A programme against domesticviolence, a communication campaign against human trafficking duringwhich a hotline for people to report trafficking cases were announced,and a charity event for mountainous children also took place.

On the occasion, organisations and individuals with greatcontributions to voluntary blood donations were honoured. The 20-yearold Association of Youth Blood Donor Recruiters received a certificateof merit from the Prime Minister while 10 outstanding volunteers in thenorth was also presented with merit certificates in recognition of theircontributions in volunteer activities in 2014.

Overthe past years, volunteer activities in Vietnam have developedremarkably, covering various areas such as health care, environmentprotection and social welfares, and attracting a large number ofyoungsters and students.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
