Vietnam wins two golds at Int’l Physics Olympiad

All five Vietnamese students have won medals, including two golds, at the 49th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2018) held in Portugal from July 21 to 29 with the participation of 86 countries and territories.

Hanoi (VNA) – All five Vietnamese students have won medals, includingtwo golds, at the 49th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2018) held inPortugal from July 21 to 29 with the participation of 86 countries andterritories.

The Department of Quality Management under the Ministry of Education andTraining revealed on July 29 that the Vietnamese students attending thecompetition also grabbed two silver and one bronze medals.

The gold medal winners are Nguyen Ngoc Long and Tran Duc Huy, 12th graders fromLam Son High School for Gifted Students in Thanh Hoa province andHanoi-Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students, respectively.

Nguyen Xuan Tan from High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi University ofScience, Vietnam National University and Trinh Duy Hieu of High School forGifted Student in Bac Giang province won the silver medal. Both are 12thgraders.

Nguyen Van Thanh Loi from Quang Trung High School for Gifted Students in BinhPhuoc province pocketed a bronze medal.

At the 48th International Physics Olympiad in Indonesia, Vietnamese students tookfour gold and one silver medal.

The students are scheduled to return to Vietnam in the morning of July 30.-VNA
