Buenos Aires (VNA) – Argentina’sForeign Minister Susana Malcorra on May 4 presented the first-class Order of May to outgoing VietnameseAmbassador to Argentina Nguyen Dinh Thao for his contributions tostrengthening ties between the two nations.
Addressing theceremony, the minister hailed the efforts the ambassador has made over the pastthree years, contributing to developing cooperation between the two nations, particularlyin economics-trade.
She affirmedthat Vietnam plays an important role in boosting the colloboration between the LatinAmerican regional economic bloc (Mercosur), including Argentina, Brazil,Paraguay and Uruguay, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The honourreflects the special attention the government of President Mauricio Macri paysto relations with Vietnam, she reiterated.
For his part,the Vietnamese diplomat expressed his honour to receive the Order and extendedthanks for the support the Government and people of Argentina have offered tohim over the past three years.
He pledged tocontinue contributing to developing the friendship and cooperation between thetwo nations.
Two-way tradebetween Vietnam and Argentina has doubled over the past four years, exceeding 3billion USD in 2016, with Vietnam the sixth biggest trade partner of Argentina,climbing from the 70th in 2000.
