Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese Ambassador to Tanzania and Uganda Nguyen KimDoanh said the Government of Vietnam always treasures relations with Africannations, including Uganda, while presenting credentials to President Museveni of Uganda inKampala capital city on January 18.

Duringthe reception following the presentation ceremony, President Museveni expressedrespect for many Vietnamese leaders such as President Ho Chi Minh, PrimeMinister Pham Van Dong, and General Vo Nguyen Giap, and affirmed that theUgandan people supported Vietnam during their struggle for national liberation.

He saidhe always follows Vietnam’s development process and is delight at thesignificant achievements Vietnam has gained in national building anddevelopment.

ThePresident instructed Ugandan Foreign Minister Sam Kutesa to pay a visit toVietnam as soon as possible to promote the two nations’ relations.

For hispart, the Vietnamese diplomat briefed the host on Vietnam’s situation, withhigh economic growth rates in many consecutive years. In 2017, Vietnam’seconomic growth rate hit 6.81 percent, with many Vietnamese products among theworld’s top exports, such as rice, coffee and cashew nuts, Doanh said.

Doanhpledged to do his utmost to boost the traditional friendship and cooperationbetween the two nations.

He also underlinedthe need for increasing delegation exchanges and developing legal framework tofacilitate trading and investment between the two nations’ firms.

The sameday, the ambassador had meetings with the Ugandan Ministers ofTrade, Industry and Cooperatives; Agriculture, Animal Industryand Fisheries; and the Secretary in charge of international affairs at theForeign Ministry.  All the officialsexpressed the wish to forge cooperation with Vietnam in the coming time.-VNA
