Vietnamese drama brings folk humour to RoK

A drama entitled Cai Lao Hoan Dong (Rejuvenation) will be performed by Vietnamese artists at the International Performing Arts Festival in Pohang City, the Republic of Korea (RoK).
A drama entitled Cai Lao Hoan Dong (Rejuvenation) will beperformed by Vietnamese artists at the International Performing ArtsFestival in Pohang City, the Republic of Korea (RoK).

A 13-membertroupe from Vietnam Drama Theatre led by director Nguyen The Vinh is inthe RoK attending the festival, which ends on August 5.

Theartists will perform the hilariously funny Cai Lao Hoan Dong, a shortfolk drama adapted by Nhat Linh. It tells of a poor farmer's victoryover greedy and dishonest rivals thanks to superior cleverness.

Stage director Tuan Hai combines folklore and humour to make the story more interesting.

Theplay introduces the international audience to Vietnam's traditionalcostumes, as well as folk dances and singing from the northern region.

Thedrama was voted as the most favourite play at the China-ASEAN TheatreFestival in the Chinese city of Nanning last September.-VNA
