The statement was made by the head of adelegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam ( CPV ) attending the 36th Congress of the French Communist Party, which opened inSeine-Saint-Denis on February 7.

Pierre Laurent, whowas re-elected the PCF’s National Secretary, received Nguyen Van Thanh,member of CPV Central Committee and Secretary of Hai Phong city’sParty Committee.

At the reception, he spokehighly of Vietnam’s achievements during its renewal period, theconstruction of socialism and Vietnam ’s foreign policies,as well as the role, prestige and experience of the CPV.

Laurent expressed his belief that the soundrelationship and friendly cooperation between the two parties willdevelop even stronger, especially after 40 years of diplomatic tiesbetween the two countries. -VNA
