Vietnamese, Lao peace committees fortify links

The Vietnam Peace Committee (VPC) and the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity (LCPS) have agreed to intensify their far-reaching cooperation in the time ahead.

The agreement was reached attalks in Hanoi on September 9 between National Assembly Vice Chairmanand VPC President Uong Chu Luu and LCPS President Khamphan Simmalavong.

Accordingly, the two sides will facilitate high-rankingvisits, share the working experience of each country’s social andnon-governmental organisations, and offer personnel training in externalrelations.

At the same time, they will support each otherin multilateral people-to-people activities, jointly deal with climatechange, properly tap Mekong River natural resources while working withother people’s organisations to popularise Vietnam and Laos as well astheir culture and tourism.

Luu said he is hopeful of finebilateral cooperation in the future, assuring his guest that theVietnamese Party and State will make it easier for the two sides tofulfil their cooperation plans.

During its five-day stay, theLao delegation will pay a courtesy call to leaders of Ho Chi Minh City,the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), and the Ho ChiMinh City chapters of VUFO and VPC.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
