The Vietnamese People Association in the Republic of Korea on May 20officially opened its headquarters in Incheon city, about 50 km east ofSeoul.
Speaking at the event, VietnameseAmbassador to the RoK Tran Trong Toan praised the association’sprovisional executive board and its branches in helping the Vietnamesecommunity integrate into the host country.
Hehighlighted the association’s contributions to the friendship andcooperation between the two countries although it was established justover one year ago on Dec. 22, 2010.
The ambassadorexpressed his hope that the office will connect and assist theVietnamese community in the RoK and that the association will launchmore activities to consolidate the solidarity among the community andboost exchange between the two countries’ people, contributing to theVietnam-RoK relations.
The association’s ProvisionalPresident Tran Hai Linh thanked the Vietnamese Embassy, RoK offices andbusinesses for their support.
He took the occasion toreview the association’s activities over the past time, such asparticipating in international cultural festivals in the RoK to promotethe land and people of Vietnam and organising programmes to assistVietnamese brides and children of multi-cultural families./.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
