Vietnamese PhD graduates sponsored to return home

The Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) in the US will finance Vietnamese PhD graduated in the US to prepare for their return and employment in Vietnam, said VEF Board Chairman Issacs Silvera.

The commitment was made during Silvera’s meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan in Hanoi on July 26.

Silvera said the VEF’s funding will be 2,000 USD for each during thefirst five years, and a fivefold increase in the following years toprepare for research and work in Vietnam.

The VEF Board Chairman said the foundation will pay more attention to and support education and training in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Deputy PM Nhan hailed the VEF’s contributions to the Vietnamese education sector.

Vietnam is willing to create every possible condition for theVietnamese fellowships abroad, especially in the US, to return home andcontribute to the country, he said.

The Deputy PM expressed hishope that the VEF will do more supporting and assisting the developmentof Vietnam’s education system in the coming time.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
