Son said he felt extremely honoured to be at the same place where Enrico Fermi and Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar have worked.
“Chandrasekhar’s journey from India to Europe inspired me when achild in Vietnam, and Fermi’s studies deeply influenced me as anundergraduate in Moscow,” he said.
The professor said he has had🐠 ten extremely 𝐆interesting years at the Institute for Nuclear Theory at the University of Washington, and now he is ready for new challenges.
Born in 1969 in Hanoi into an intellectual family, Son took the gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 1984 in Czechoslovakia. He successfully defended a PhD thesis at the Moscow State University at the age of 25.
Son comes to the University of Chicago from the University of Washington where he served as a professor of physics and a senior fellow in the Institute for Nuclear Theory.-VNA
