Vietnamese sailors rescued off South Africa’s Richards Bay

Four Vietnamese sailors on board a Taiwanese fishing vessel that sank near South Africa several days ago have been saved, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre reported on July 11.

Hanoi (VNA) – Four Vietnamese sailors on board a Taiwanese fishing vessel thatsank near South Africa several days ago have been saved, the Vietnam MaritimeSearch and Rescue Coordination Centre reported on July 11.

Accordingto the centre, on July 9, two ships from Singapore and Marshall Islands rescuedall 30 people aboard vessel HSIANG FUH No.6 which sank about 344 nautical milesoff South Africa’s Richards Bay.

Thetwo ships then carried these people to Durban port of South Africa.

Thecentre contacted the Cape Town Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centreas well as Vietnam’s Consular Department and Embassy in South Africa to providesupport for Vietnamese citizens.-VNA
