Jakarta (VNA) – Le Thu Thuy from the Academy ofJournalism and Communication has won one of the three top prizes at the ASEANYouth Video Competition on reducing plastic pollution towards sustainablelifestyle.

At the finalround held virtually on October 8, Thuy together with Tayzar Min Aung fromMyanmar’s University of Economics and Trisa from the University of Indonesia, was selected from the 10 contestants for the prize, each worth 750 USD.

Co-hosted bythe Centre for Southeast Asian Studies and the Norwegian Institute for WaterResearch (NIVA), the event aimed to raise ASEAN youths’ awareness of oceanplastic waste pollution and guide them in how to use digital platform to express theircreative ideas about the field.

It was also meant to support the ASEAN Regional ActionPlan for Combating Marine Debris in the ASEAN member states.

๊ The eventattracted 150 entries by candidates from Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia,Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand. Its board of juries comprised experts fromFacebook, Google, BBC, CNN, ASEAN Foundation and NIVA./.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
