Vietnamese students compete to build fuel-saving vehicle

Six teams of Vietnamese students together with 140 international teams from 18 countries and territories will contest the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2013 from July 4-7 in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur which challenges them to design, build and test energy efficient vehicles.

According to Shell Vietnam, it will be the third timethat Vietnamese teams are taking part in the event, the fourth of itskind in Asia .

The marathon, held annually byShell, is a global contest for students aged 16-25 years old. It isdesigned to encourage their creative spirit and give them a technicalfoundation for the future.

Nguyen Anh Tuyet, ShellVietnam President, said she believes that by participating in thecontest the Vietnamese young generation’s awareness of energy efficiencywill grow.

She added that the contest wouldinspire them to work out new ideas of energy, efficient energy use andpractical technology application to develop the country and respond toclimate change.

This year is the first time a teamfrom the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City will take part in theurban car category.-VNA

Vietnam r🍌amps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
