A Vietnamese passenger was arrested at Ho Chi Minh City-based Tan Son Nhat International Airport on August 8 for allegedly transporting cocaine from Brazil to HCM City. ​

HCM City (VNA) – A Vietnamese passenger wasarrested at Ho Chi Minh City-based Tan Son Nhat International Airport on August8 for allegedly transporting cocaine from Brazil to HCM City.

The cocaine was hidden in clothes, cosmetics, footwearand other personal items carried by the 37-year-old passenger, who hails fromthe central province of Binh Thuan.

The woman said she made friends with a Nigerian online,who helped her buy tickets to Brazil and asked her to send gifts to hisrelatives in HCM City.

The passenger and the exhibits have been transferred toHCM City’s Narcotic Crimes InvestigationPolice for further investigation.

Over the past five years, customs officers at Tan SonNhat International Airport and competent agencies arrested 52 people onsuspicion of transporting drugs via the airport.-VNA
