Vietnam’s shrimp exports to China surge 30 percent in first half

HCM City (VNA) – Vietnam’s shrimpexports to China reached 282.9 million USD in January-June, representing ayear-on-year rise of 30 percent, according to the Vietnam Association ofSeafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). The association forecast furthergrowth in shrimp export to China, a key market for many Vietnamese shrimpexporters, this year. According to VASEP, the market holds numerous opportunities for Vietnamese seafoodbusinesses, as it has a large population and big demand.
In addition, China importsshrimps for not only domestic consumption but also export to other countries.
However, VASEP noted some difficulties facingVietnamese exporters as China requires processing plants to ha😼ve Chinese–grantedcodes a🍸nd be included in a list of exporters approved by China in order toexport their products to the market.
At the same time, the Chinesemarket has continuously raised requirements for product quality over recentyears.
The VASEP suggested Vietnamese enterprises focuson imp𓂃roving the quality of products to make inroads in the market.
China is now the fourthbiggest importer of Vietnam’s aquatic products, after the US, EU and Japan.-VNA
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the shrimp industry to strive for an export value of 10 billion USD by 2025 during a conference on shrimp production held in Ca Mau province on February 6.
A conference was held in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang on March 23 to discuss how to realize the 10 billion USD shrimp export target by 2025 as requested by the Prime Minister.
Vietnam earned 1.56 billion USD from shrimp exports in the first half of this year, up 15.7 percent annually, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).
A key change in the draft decree is a provision requiring bank transfers for gold transactions valued at 20 million VND (765 USD) and above, to enhance transparency and verify customer identities.
In the first four months of 2025, trade turnover between Vietnam and Cambodia surpassed 3 billion USD, marking a 7% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
