Vinasoy kicks off nutrition programme for children

Quang Ngai (VNA) – As many as 23,000 primary pupils will benefit from a nutrition programme launched by the Study Encouragement Fund of the Vietnam Soya Products Company (Vinasoy) during the first semester of 2016-2017 school year.
The programme was announced at a ceremo♛ny in the central province of Quang Ngai on August 15.
Entitled “Healthy nutrition for children’s growth”, the initiative aimed to increase health, physical strength and reduce malnutrition among children.
The programme will be implemented in seven provinces, including five northern provinces of Vinh Phuc, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Yen Bai, Bac Giang and two central provinces - Thanh Hoa and Quang Ngai.
Accordingly, nearly 2 million 125 ml milk boxes will be provided free of charge for 23,000 pupils in participating provinces.
Besides, the programme will coordinate with localities’ authorities to organise several helpful activities for children such as drawing competitions and tree planting.
On the occasion, Vinasoy presented 20 scholarships each worth 500,000 VND (22.5 USD) to outsta🦩nding and impoverished primary pupils in Quang Ngai.-VNA
Malnutrition has greatly contributed to Vietnamese people’s shortness compared with other countries in Asia and Europe, according to the National Institute of Nutrition.
Cho Ray hospital and the Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) signed a strategic cooperation agreement for a nutritional consultation programme in Ho Chi Minh City on February 26.
Vietnam Soya Products Company (Vinasoy) began construction on its third plant in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP 2A) in the southern province of Binh Duong on March 18.
A set of 40 standardised menus, which are both nutritious and delicious, have been created to ensure the good health and stature of primary students in Da Nang, Hai Phong and Hanoi cities.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
