Vinh Long launches swimming course to students, teachers

The course, lasting till June 21, will offer theoretical andpractical guidance on swimming skills and rescue for drowned children.
Permanent Vice Secretary of the provincial youth union BuiVan Chieu said it is the third year the union has held such a swimming course forteachers and students with an aim to protect themselves in water or rescuedrowned victims, thereby improving their health.
During summer this year, the union will open similar coursesin remote and mountainous areas.
Since early this year, Vinh Long has recorded nine deathsfrom drowning, mostly those below six years old.-VNA
A propgramme to teach safe swimming for children aiming to prevent drowning will be held in 63 localities nationwide from May to August 2018, the organising board announced at a press conference in Hanoi on May 8.
