VN attends Int’l hydrographic conference in Monaco

In Vietnam , the Navy under the Ministry of National Defence, is the agency in charge of hydrography affairs.

At the conference, the Vietnamese delegation said with a longcoastline and large sea area, Vietnam wants to be a member of theInternational Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) to join cooperation in thefield for boosting economic development, sea transport and ensuringmaritime safety in the region and the world.

More than 100 delegations of IHO members and observers expressed their support of Vietnam ’s admission to the IHO.

Vietnam applied for IHO membership in May last year and thecountry is completing necessary procedures to become an official memberof the organisation.

At the conference, participants agreedon measures to harmonise sea maps and to increase global and regionalcooperation programmes in hydrography, thus ensuring the safety ofmaritime activities.

During the conference, theVietnamese delegation met with IHO leaders, the conference’s Chair andmany delegations to the conference to discuss ways to beef upcooperation in the field.


Founded in 1921, the IHO is an intergovernmental organization serving as a coordinator in the field.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
