VN competes in ASEAN School Games

The Vietnamese team participated in the fourth ASEAN School Games themed “Spirit, Friendship and Excellence”, kicking off in the Indonesian province of East Java on June 29.
The Vietnamese team participated in the fourth ASEAN School Games themed“Spirit, Friendship and Excellence”, kicking off in the Indonesianprovince of East Java on June 29.

The event will see the participation of 1,356 athletes and officialsfrom Indonesia , Malaysia , the Philippines , Thailand , Singapore ,Brunei Darussalam and Vietnam , in 11 events including track andfield as compulsory, and with golf and sepak takraw being optional.

The host country has set a target of bagging 36 gold medals, comparedto the 21 it won at the third ASEAN School Games in Singapore last year,where Thailand came out on top, winning the event overall, followed bySingapore, Malaysia and Indonesia as the runners-up./.

This year’s event will last until July 6.-VNA
