Hanoi (VNA) - The Ciputra Hanoi - Yonex Sunrise Vietnam InternationalChallenge badminton tournament began at Tay Ho district’s Gymnasium on March20.

According to Bui Kim Ha, General Secretary of the Hanoi Badminton Federation,the event features 292 badminton players from 18 countries and territoriesincluding Japan, China, the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, India andThailand.

Vietnam’s players in the world’s top 100 such as Nguyen Tien Minh, Pham CaoCuong, Vu Thi Trang, Nguyen Thuy Linh, Do Tuan Duc and Pham Nhu Thao are competingin the event, which has a total 25,000 USD of prize money on offer.

The male and female winner will walk away with 1,875 USD each, while thewinners of men’s, women’s doubles and mixed doubles will receive 1,975 USD.

The tournament, which will last until March 25, is organised by the HanoiDepartment of Culture and Sports, and the Hanoi Badminton Federation.-VNA
