Geneva (VNA) - The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has shown strong performance in its role as Vietnam’s leading external communications agency, consistently providing the international community with official information about the country, commented Secretary General of the Swiss-Viet Economic Forum (SVEF) Rachel Isenschmid.

Speaking to the VNA's correspondents in Geneva on the occasion of the agency's 80th traditional day, Isenschmid highlighted that the VNA's reporting is not only accurate but also systematic, highlighting Vietnam’s efforts in international integration, economic reform, sustainable development and contributions to global issues.

Over the decades, the agency has established itself as the State’s official information channel and a reputable national news agency.

Its reports, characterised by timeliness and accuracy, have faithfully reflected the Party and State’s policies. This role, observers note, has not only shaped domestic public opinion but also enabled the international community to gain a clearer understanding of Vietnam’s progress in integration and development, said the SVEF Secretary General.

She said that from the SVEF’s perspective, the agency has been instrumental in amplifying the forum’s activities in fostering economic, political and social linkages between Vietnam and Switzerland, as well as more broadly with the international community. The VNA, she remarked, has conveyed the image of a dynamic, innovative and globally integrated Vietnam to friends and partners around the world.

According to Isenschmid, the VNA’s output consistently demonstrates accuracy and coherence, while highlighting Vietnam’s international integration efforts, economic reforms, sustainable development strategies and contributions to global issues.

For the SVEF, she added, the VNA’s reports and articles have created a reliable channel of communications, providing international partners and investors with a sharper insight into Vietnam’s cooperation potential. Such information, she noted, not only meets the demand for knowledge but also builds trust and strengthens bilateral relations, she added.

With a network of 30 overseas bureaus, the VNA provides objective and timely coverage of developments in host countries and regions, while promoting greater understanding of Vietnam’s foreign policy, socio-economic strategies and achievements.

Isenschmid further emphasised that the VNA’s presence abroad has extended beyond external communication, serving as a vital bridge to the Vietnamese community abroad.

🦩 She noted that the VNA’s updates allow Vietnamese living abroad stay connected with developments in their homeland, thereby reinforcing their national pride and aspiration to contribute. In particular, she highlighted the agency’s partnership with the SVEF in Switzerland and Europe, which has helped bring overseas Vietnamese closer to their homeland and encouraged more active participation in bilateral cooperation activities./.
