Water treatment plant opens in Soc Trang

A 6.1 million Euro water treatment plant was put into operation on June 18 in Soc Trang city, the southern province of Soc Trang.
A 6.1 million Euro water treatment plant was put into operation on June18 in Soc Trang city, the southern province of Soc Trang.

The plant, with a processing capacity of 13,000 cubic metres per day,is part of a German-funded project to improve the province’s drainageand water treatment system.

According to Lam Huu Tung,Director of the Soc Trang Urban Works Company, the facility willdrastically reduce environmental pollution in the locality, whileimproving living conditions for about 33,000 locals, one fourth of thetotal population of the province.

Addressing theinauguration ceremony, German Ambassador to Vietnam Jutta Frasch saidshe hopes the new water treatment system will contribute to making thebeautiful city cleaner.

In the future, her country will continue to support the province in bettering its urban drainage system, she added.-VNA

As a key member of the core group of 18 countries, initiated by Vanuatu, Vietnam engaged in advocating for the UN General Assembly’s Resolution N.77/276, requesting for the ICJ’s advisory opinion. ♔ Hanoi to roll out policies supporting green transport transition

Under the plan, from 2025 to 2026, the city will complete mechanisms and policies to support businesses in switching to green vehicles, expand the electric and green-energy bus network, and build charging stations. The targeted proportion of green buses is set at 10% in 2025 and 20–23% in 2026.
