Working team builds post-2015 climate change response programme

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has worked with other ministries to set up a working team for designing a Support Programme to Respond to Climate Change (SP-RCC) in 2016-2020, Deputy Minister Tran Hong Ha said at a meeting in Hanoi on March 11.

Theworking team gathers leading experts in climate change and is dividedinto groups of policy, investment, and capacity and knowledgedevelopment, he said.

The post-2015 SP-RCC willfocus on actions to mitigate the climate change impact; increasingmobilisation and distribution of financial resources; enhancing thequality of policy dialogues and encouraging cooperation in the field.

The programme is intended to build mechanisms forreporting and monitoring the progress of implementing the public-privatepartnership while stimulating renovation, enhancing capacity, andpromoting inter-sectoral and inter-regional coordination, Ha said.

He reported that the SP-RCC for the 2009-2015 period has received warmresponse from 10 ministries, sectors and localities together withfinancial support from the international community and developmentpartners such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), theFrench Development Agency (AFD), and the World Bank (WB).

So far the programme has concentrated on building and amendingnormative legal documents in the direction of integrating climate changeadaptation and green growth.-VNA

As a key member of the core group of 18 countries, initiated by Vanuatu, Vietnam engaged in advocating for the UN General Assembly’s Resolution N.77/276, requesting for the ICJ’s advisory opinion. 🐓 Hanoi to roll out policies supporting green transport transition

Under the plan, from 2025 to 2026, the city will complete mechanisms and policies to support businesses in switching to green vehicles, expand the electric and green-energy bus network, and build charging stations. The targeted proportion of green buses is set at 10% in 2025 and 20–23% in 2026.
